SPOTLIGHT - BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD

Hawaii native, Mikey Sanders--now stationed in San Francisico--has released a new song via his project Blackbird Blackbird. The song is called 'All' and similar to his older tracks, has just as much dream-pop ambience and sweeping guitar riffs. For those who are unfamiliar with him, his style is similar to that of Baths, but reminiscent of other acts depending on which song you're listening to. For example a song like 'Pure' has vocals and a sweeping soundscape similar to one of Aphex Twin's less 'braindancey' tunes. Waikiki (Which you can download here) has tones and textures similar to--not surprisingly--sounds from Hawaii and other tropical locales.

Blackbird Blackbird will be performing in Brooklyn at Shea Stadium with Maus Haus on October 17. Luckily for you West Coasters he's playing a ton of shows out there, so check your local listings. Listen to 'Pure' and 'Waikiki' below.
