SPOTLIGHT: BRNS

Snoop Dog...OK Snoop Lion isn't the only name-changer in the game today. No, several bands do it for various reasons: another band with the same/similar name, loss of members or perhaps just new beginnings (though I don't think the "Rasta" life style is very new to the D-O-double-G). BRNS, formerly known as Brains, changed theirs for the sake of branding and visibility on the Internet. And we're certainly glad they did, because every discovery of this experimental indie band is well worth it. Read more after the jump/track.

Though they may have borrowed a page from MGMT or MSTRKRFT with the name, their music will undoubtedly set them apart. From the land of Brussels, BRNS is comprised of multi-instrumentalists making tunes that are mystical, moody, vibrant and catchy. Charged with a shouting chorus, 'Mexico' will get you dancing or at least singing along. And you can keep your head bobbing for 'Here Dead He Lies' as the staccato guitar and drums jut in with the pulsing anthem-like vocals.

BRNS is currently playing a slew of shows over in Belgium and France in support of their EP Wounded which dropped back in May of this year. Stream Wounded below, check out a Lo-fi performance of 'Mexico' and be excited for these guys.
